Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Stakes Day (22 Jun, Saturday)

About the barriers

Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Stakes (2019 to 2023)

Barrier 1st 2nd 3rd
1-5 2 2 1
6-10 2 2 2
11-15 0 1 2
16 and above 1 0 1

The draw bias for the Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Stakes in the past five years has favoured stalls 10 or below, with equal numbers of winners being produced by draws both below and greater than five.

Draw numbers between 11 and 15 have not produced a winner at all since 2019, but have achieved three placings in this time, while draws of over 16 have – somewhat surprisingly – produced one winner and a place in the same timeframe.

About the Jockeys

Hot Jockey: James Doyle

Year James Doyle’s rides in the Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Stakes Finishing Position
2023 - -
2022 NAVAL CROWN 1
2021 GARRUS 5
2020 ONE MASTER 6
2019 BLUE POINT 1

The only jockeys to have ridden more than one winner of the Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Stakes in the last 12 years are Ryan Moore and James Doyle, both having ridden two or more winners historically.

James Doyle is the most recently in-form of the two, having won this race twice in the past five years aboard Blue Point in 2019 and NAVAL CROWN in 2022.

This year, James Doyle will ride SHARTASH in the Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Stakes.

About the Trainers

Hot Trainer: Charles Hills

Year Charles Hills’s runners in the Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Stakes Finishing Position
2023 KHAADEM 1
2022 GARRUS 21
2021 GARRUS 5
2020 KHAADEM 4
2019 - -

Charlie Appleby is the only trainer to have won this race more than once since 2012, having won it in 2019 with BLUE POINT and again in 2022 with NAVAL CROWN, but he will not be adding to this tally in 2024 as he has no entrants in this race.

Charles Hills, who won this race last year with KHAADEM, sends the gelding back into the mix this year, alongside improving stablemate MITBAAHY, so his horses could be worth some careful consideration.

About the Favourites

Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Stakes Statistics (2019 to 2023)

Year Favourite Finishing Position
2023 HIGHFIELD PRINCESS 3
2022 HOME AFFAIRS 20
2021 DREAM OF DREAMS 1
2020 SCEPTICAL 3
2019 BLUE POINT 1

There have been three winning favourites in the last 10 renewals of the Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Stakes, and two in the last five years, so those runners at the top of the market have a reasonably strong statistical chance of winning.

Only once in the last five years has a favourite failed to make the first three, however it must also be noted that we have seen several double-figure odds winners in the last five years also. KHAADEM was 80/1 in 2023 while NAVAL CROWN 33/1 in 2022, so the market is not always the best indicator of the winner.

As 60% of the last 10 years’ winners were at single-figure odds, it is recommended to pay close attention to horses at prices of 9/1 and shorter.
