This contest is the most prestigious sprint race run over five days and is now named in honour of the late Queen. Originally named was known as the Cork and Orrery Stakes until it was awarded G1 status and became known as the Golden Jubilee Stakes, Diamond Jubilee Stakes and the Platinum Jubilee Stakes to coincide with Queen Elizabeth II’s longevity as the monarch. It has been won by some of the best sprinters on the planet, for example, BLACK CAVIAR in 2012, CHOISIR and BLUE POINT both did the King’s Stand-Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee double in 2003 and 2019; other significant successes were STARSPANGLEDBANNER in 2010 and the US trained, Wesley Ward’s UNDRAFTED in 2015.

Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Stakes Results
KHAADEM made history in the G1 Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Stakes by becoming the race’s first back-to-back winner since 1959.
Settled behind the pacesetters under Oisin Murphy, who was riding his fourth winner of the week, KHAADEM cruised into contention before cutting through a gap in the closing stages.
At the age of eight, this was the horse’s 35th start and he showed no signs of slowing down.
SWINGALONG and MILL STREAM, who were up with the pace throughout, saw out the 1200m trip well to finish second and third respectively.
Trainer Charles Hills confirmed that the quick ground was key to getting the best out of his horse and his next engagement could be the 1200m G1 July Cup at Newmarket, while he also suggested a trip to Australia would warrant consideration.
