The G1 Queen Anne Stakes is the first race to take place at Royal Ascot each year, so is always keenly anticipated and highly competitive. Up to 26 horses may take part each year, many of which are already household names, representing a number of different countries. There is a long list of great champions that have won the Queen Anne Stakes, with names such as FRANKEL, BAAEED, PALACE PIER, SOLOW and RIBCHESTER among the more recent roll of honour. This is a real international test for top-class milers aged four and over, and sees both male and female horses go head to head, producing an intriguing contest year on year.

Queen Anne Stakes Results
CHARYN proved too strong for his rivals in the G1 Queen Anne Stakes over 1600m, finishing 2¼ lengths clear of DOCKLANDS with MALJOOM back in third.
Silvestre de Sousa did the steering on the Roger Varian-trained son of DARK ANGEL, and it was a deserved success after a slightly unlucky second behind AUDIENCE in last month’s G1 Lockinge Stakes at Newbury.
CHARYN didn’t win last season but ran plenty of solid races in top company, and he has turned things around this campaign with three wins and a second from four starts.
Although perhaps not the strongest renewal of the Queen Anne Stakes, it was an impressive performance by the 4YO and continued De Sousa and Varian’s fine start to the season following their success with ELMALKA in last month’s 1000 Guineas.
