Being drawn low is a significant advantage to runners in the Queen Anne Stakes given recent trends. In particular gate four has been particularly productive with both 2020 winner CIRCUS MAXIMUS and 2022 victor BAAEED winning from the same gate.
Both of the winners that have defied double figure draws have come from gate 11 with TRIPLE TIME winning last year’s race from that gate and PALACE PIER taking the 2021 renewal, however when the field is 16 runners, or more, it is a big disadvantage being drawn high.
Of those gates which have served well with placed runners, gate eight has supplied two runners-up with TEREBELLUM in 2020 and LOPE Y FERNANDEZ occupying the same position in 2021.

Frankie Dettori has the best record in the Queen Anne Stakes having won the race once in the past five years along with finishing second in it twice including 12 months ago on INSPIRAL. However, he will not be riding at the meeting this year.
With trainer Aidan O’Brien not having any runners in this year’s race Ryan Moore, who won the 2020 renewal on CIRCUS MAXIMUS is likely to be in demand, given he has finished in the first three on two occasions since 2019. He will ride for HI ROYAL in the Queen Anne Stakes this year.

John & Thady Gosden, who saddled 2021 winner PALACE PIER and sent out INSPIRAL to finish second last year, will be represented by INSPIRAL and G1 Lockinge Stakes winner AUDIENCE.
William Haggas is another trainer that is worth noting in the race having sent out winner BAAEED in 2022 and saddled ONE MASTER to finish third in 2019. The Newmarket trainer is likely to be represented in this year’s race by MALJOOM.

Three of the last five renewals of the Queen Anne Stakes have gone the way of favourites with BAAEED, PALACE PIER and CIRCUS MAXIMUS returning as odds-on winners.
However, it has also been won by horses starting at double figure odds with LORD GLITTERS (14-1) winning the 2019 renewal and 33-1 chance TRIPLE TIME landing the race last year.
Recent patterns would suggest it is worth following the favourites given their recent record in the race, but at least one horse priced 12-1 and above has reached the frame in each of the past five renewals.

The number of overseas runners in the race has gone down in number since four contested the 2019 renewal with Aidan O’Brien the only trainer outside of Britain to represented in the race since 2021.
Of the overseas runners since 2019, trainer Aidan O’Brien has been responsible for five of them while French-trained runners have not fared well in the race with OLMEDO finishing 15th in 2019 and PLUMATIC 14th in 2020.
The Jerome Reynier-trained FACTEUR CHEVAL, who won the G1 Dubai Turf on his latest start, is a leading contender for this year’s race and he will look to buck the trend of recent French-trained runners in the Queen Anne Stakes.
