With the development of The Championships, the one race to get the biggest evolution was the 2000m G1 Queen Elizabeth Stakes.

WINX won three on the trot, ending her career in a blaze of glory on a famous sunny afternoon at Randwick to the roar of a packed house. Then William Haggas took over taking three of the next four editions with stable favourites ADDEYBB and DUBAI HONOUR.

What we have with the 2024 Queen Elizabeth Stakes Day is several international quality horses now in the care of local trainers.  VIA SISTINA is a mare bought for breeding purposes but now with Chris Waller. She arrived into quarantine from a top 2023 season including a G1 Pretty Polly Stakes win and placings in the Falmouth Stakes, Prix Jean Romanet and a great effort in the Champion Stakes. She just showed a successul debut in Australia by winning in G1 Ranvet Stakes.

PLACE DU CARROUSEL has also joined the locals with the successful Cups combination of Anthony & Sam Freedman trying to work that magic again. This mare won the G1 Prix de l'Opera last season before taking the G2 Prix Foy in 2023.

They could be challenged by the Aussie regular WFA performers MR BRIGHTSIDE, THINK IT OVER and PRIDE OF JENNI.

In the 3200m G1 Sydney Cup, some of those out of last year’s Melbourne Cup could contend like ASHRUN, MORE FELONS and MILITARY MISSION.

Two more G1s are run with the kiwis big players in the 2400m G1 Australian Oaks as ORCHESTRAL brings her form over the Tasman to face the VRC Oaks winner ZARDOZI. Added to that is the 1600m G1 Queen Of The Turf which has Waller’s G1 mares ATISHU, ZOUGOTCHA and ESPIONA atop the markets.
