Randwick carnivals around Easter time were for many years used to having Doncaster Mile and Australian Derby as the main fares. It certainly is such a huge part of Day 1 of The Championships, but now forms part of a brilliant day of action across so many varied contests.
Many of the great milers are winners of the Doncaster including MR BRIGHTSIDE, WINX, MORE JOYOUS and SUNLINE and probably highlighting the need for strength is seen by how many were also Cox Plate winners.

The Hong Kong-owned CELESTIAL LEGEND has continued his rapid rise to stardom with a barnstorming win in The Doncaster Mile at Randwick. Owned by Boniface Ho Ka Kui and prepared by veteran Randwick trainer Les Bridge, the lightly-raced 3YO scored his third win in a row and second at G1 level with a late burst.
Ridden by Tyler Schiller and with just 108lbs on his back, CELESTIAL LEGEND ploughed through the mud to gun down PERICLES and win by more than half a length with the Zac Purton-ridden MILITARIZE close-up in third. It was another major Randwick win for Ho and Bridge who also combined to win the 2020 running of The Everest with CLASSIQUE LEGEND.
