The Nassau Stakes is one of the most prestigious contests stages in Europe for fillies and mares aged three or older. Established in 1840, has been run over a 2000m trip since 1911. It was promoted to G1 level in 1999 and is the highlight of day three of the Goodwood Festival. Aidan O’Brien-trained Oaks winner MINDING remains the only filly this century to win the Epsom Classic and the Nassau Stakes in the same season in 2016.

Nassau Stakes Results
The 2024 renewal of the 2000m G1 Nassau Stakes was won by OPERA SINGER, the middle leg of a treble on the day for trainer Aidan O’Brien and jockey Ryan Moore.
Last season’s Prix Marcel Boussac winner OPERA SINGER, who made most of the running, was winning at the top level again having finished third in the Irish 1000 Guineas on her first start of the season before filling second in the Coronation Stakes at Royal Ascot in June.
SEE THE FIRE closed all the way to the line to take second place, beaten just a neck, with the French filly SPARKLING PLENTY also closing late on for third, again beaten a further neck. It was a 1-2-3 for the Classic generation, with the trio clear of another 3YO, the 1000 Guineas winner ELMALKA.
The favourite EMILY UPJOHN was too keen with a wide trip and finished a well–held sixth.
OPERA SINGER received positive reports from her trainer and jockey and may now head to the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe at ParisLongchamp later in the year.
