18. LOYAL TOUCH

In common with many of his stablemates, LOYAL TOUCH has been kept busy in recent months and this will be the 12th appearance of the year for a horse whose campaign only began as recently as March.

Two victories during that time show that this gelding has the talent to make an impact here, although he isn’t the easiest to predict as his good days are outnumbered by his bad. Like many of the offspring of NO NAY NEVER, he’s arguably most effective with some ease in the ground so any rain would be welcomed by his supporters.

LOYAL TOUCH has shown form both from the front and when ridden much more patiently. Getting to the lead from stall seven won’t be easy, so Vincent Ho may have to accept his fate and ride for luck from the rear.

10. ROCKING ENDS

Trainer: Tom Clover

Successful in three of his first eight starts, but his form began to plateau last year – only for a change of stable to the Newmarket yard of Tom Clover and a switch in tactics to revitalise this talented sprinter.

It will be fascinating to see how Vincent Ho handles ROCKING ENDS, who can throw his change away at the start – he has ducked away coming out of the stalls on more than one occasion and this horse’s only previous start at Goodwood was not an outing full of promise.

However, the downhill track could just suit such a keen-going type and there is plenty of pace around him in stall 11.
