Aidan O’Brien scratched five horses from the 2000 Guineas at Newmarket on 4th May but the Ballydoyle trainer is still responsible for four of the remaining 21 entries.

O’Brien removed HENRY ADAMS, JOHANNES BRAHMS, THE LIFFEY and UNQUESTIONABLE but hot favourite CITY OF TROY is still on track to contest the Classic as are stablemates DIEGO VELAZQUEZ, HENRY LONGFELLOW and RIVER TIBER.

All of the leading contenders remain in the 2000 Guineas but SUNWAY, a G1 winning juvenile for trainer David Menuisier, was a notable absentee having been a beaten favourite on his three-year-old debut.

SKELLET was the most notable of 15 scratchings from the 1000 Guineas on 5th May in which 27 filles remain engaged, including the Australian trained KITTY ROSE and RAMATUELLE from France.

SKELLET was a close third in Newmarket G3 the Oh So Sharp Stakes in 2023 on her most recent start.

Charlie Appleby and Godolphin could be represented by CINDERELLA’S DREAM and DANCE SEQUENCE; the unbeaten DEVOTED QUEEN and ROMANTIC STYLE were scratched.

O’Brien is responsible for five entries in the 1000 Guineas, namely BRILLIANT, BUTTONS, CONTENT, EVERLASTING and YLANG YLANG.
