Just since 2010 Craig Williams has had 12 Caulfield Cup rides for 2 wins, 4 placings. In 2022 he was in Sydney on the day winning The Everest on GIGA KICK. He will ride SOULCOMBE in the Caulfield Cup this year. The 5YO was just behind GOLD TRIP and WEST WIND BLOWS to run third in the Turnbull Stakes. Perhaps they can enjoy another great success here.

International horses coming off international runs, rather than having a lead up in Australia, have won 5 times since 2008. ALL THE GOOD (Newbury), DUNADEN (Ascot), ADMIRE RAKTI (Kyoto), BEST SOLUTION (Baden-Baden) and MER DE GLACE (Kokura) all were fresh up here. Many others have filled the placings as well.

For the locals, the G1 Turnbull Stakes has been the most used final run of late. Those coming from the SW&P scale back to a handicap have done that 8 of the last 20 times.
