The Everest itself has only been in existence since 2017 but its impact across not just the Australian racing scene, but also internationally, is immense. Growing in prizemoney almost annually, it is now a $20m event on the track but so much more off it with tourism and exposure for Sydney. It’s vastly differing system for selecting the field adds to a year round format of searching for the right sprinter and there is no right formula. Some winners were slotted early on while others have been arranged to run just over a week out. It began with a tough gelding REDZEL and he’d go to the top of the mountain again one year later. Two more stars who’ve raced overseas at stages in CLASSIQUE LEGEND and NATURE STRIP have scored top wins and then there have been two 3YOs in YES YES YES and GIGA KICK take it out too. There is no formula to win the biggest of prizes.
The Joseph Pride-trained THINK ABOUT IT roared around the Randwick 1200m in a blistering 67.64 seconds to win The Everest and announce himself as the best sprinter in Australia – if not the world. World Pool punters backed THINK ABOUT IT into favouritism ahead of I WISH I WIN who closed into second with PRIVATE EYE third and IN SECRET flashing into fourth after settling at the tail for jockey Zac Purton.

The Everest Results
THINK ABOUT IT has now won 11 from 12 and the most exciting thing is that there may be more to come! A rematch with I WISH I WIN, PRIVATE EYE and IN SECRET could be on the cards at Flemington and one may even take the chance to tackle LUCKY SWEYNESSE at Sha Tin in December in the Hong Kong Sprint.
