The Dewhurst Stakes is a popular prep race for the 2000 Guineas with 14 runners in the last five years running in this end-of-season G1. CHALDEAN won both races in 2022/23 and POETIC FLARE finished down the field in 2020 before taking the Guineas the following year. Furthermore, in 2021 and 2019, the winner of the Dewhurst Stakes finished in the first three in the Guineas. It is less common for those lining up in the Dewhurst to go on to run in the Derby. There has only been a single contender in the last five years but the outcome was positive, with ANTHONY VAN DYCK winning the blue riband in 2019.
