World-class gallopers converge for 2024 LONGINES Hong Kong International Races at Sha Tin

The 2024 LONGINES Hong Kong International Races (HKIR) is set to transform Sha Tin Racecourse into a premier racing extravaganza (Photo 1) on Sunday, 8 December.

The renowned “Turf World Championships” will be spearheaded by world-class horses from Hong Kong and around the globe, including Japan, Great Britain, France, Australia and Ireland, featuring over 50 exceptional gallopers and more than 20 individual Group 1 winners, all vying for a share of the record HK$126 million prize purse across four world-class Group 1 contests.

Admission to Sha Tin and Happy Valley Racecourses commences at 10.25am with the first race at Sha Tin scheduled for 12.25pm. All Sha Tin and Happy Valley entrants will receive a designated HKIR Cap* (Photo 2) before 3.30pm, while stocks last. The ten-race event will showcase four Group 1 races in the following order:

  • HK$24 million LONGINES Hong Kong Vase (Race 4) at 2.10pm
  • HK$26 million LONGINES Hong Kong Sprint (Race 5) at 2.50pm
  • HK$36 million LONGINES Hong Kong Mile (Race 7) at 4pm
  • HK$40 million LONGINES Hong Kong Cup (Race 8) at 4.40pm

Jackpots for Triple Trio and Quartet & First 4 Merged Pool reach HK$12 million

There will be jackpots+ for Triple Trio and Quartet & First 4 Merged Pool at HKIR. The Triple Trio jackpot will be topped up to HK$7 million from the Jackpot Reserve, with the dividend estimated to reach HK$15 million if there is only one single HK$10 winning unit.

The Quartet & First 4 Merged Pool will be topped up with jackpot totaling HK$5 million, which will be allocated to Races 9 and 10, with each race carrying a jackpot of HK$2.5 million.

A series of on-course live entertainment experiences
As well as cheering for the home team and Romantic Warrior as Hong Kong’s global champion seeks an unrivalled third consecutive LONGINES Hong Kong Cup, racegoers can also look forward to Sha Tin’s well-known entertainment and delectable culinary offerings throughout the event. Highlights include:

  • International K-pop legend RAIN (Photo 3) will perform at the opening ceremony in the Parade Ring at 11.30am#.
  • Popular band Zpecial (Photo 4) will perform between races on the stage underneath Mezza One in the Public Betting Hall throughout the day.
  • A delightful selection of international culinary delights will be on offer at the Public Betting Hall Kiosk 2!.
  • “Sha Tin Racecourse Delights” quiz for a chance to win prizes on the day, including a designated horse plush autographed by International K-pop legend RAIN^.
  • Futuristic pyrotechnics show (Photo 5) to round off the event.

In addition, visitors to Hong Kong can enjoy free admission by showing a valid travel document upon entry to the Tourist Channel in the Public Enclosure (excluding fee-charging venues) at Sha Tin or Happy Valley Racecourse.
