The HK$13 million Hong Kong Classic Mile is typically a fierce contest, as was the case in 2022 when the first two places were captured by Hong Kong International Sale graduates Romantic Warrior and California Spangle, trained by Danny Shum and Tony Cruz, respectively.
Last year the Mark Newnham-trained My Wish won the Hong Kong Classic Mile in style with jockey Luke Ferraris.
