Over the past ten years, the JC Youth Football Development Scheme has brought various experiences to many primary and secondary school students, youth players, parents and coaches, and has grown with many participants through different stages of their lives. We have invited 12 stakeholders from different programmes to share five of their stories, which will inspire you to build a better future together.
Episode 1: Believing in yourself
From playing in a district football team, scoring a goal against the Man Utd Youth Team, and being selected for the Hong Kong team, Ben Yang experiences a challenging journey in his football career. Local footballers have fewer opportunities to develop in the city than in other regions, why do the young players persevere even in challenging times? As a coach, how does Nicky Wong feel when he witnesses how his students overcome the barriers and make their marks?
Episode 3: Put Your Best Foot Forward
Discover themselves, change careers and explore the possibilities. Two young men, Malik Zain Ali and Savio Chan, are looking forward to broadening their lives and exploring the world through the JC Youth Football Leadership Scheme's multi-dimensional activities. Calvin Wu, a social worker at Tung Wah Group of Hospitals, who has witnessed the growth of more than 200 football leaders, has also discovered a different aspect of life.
Episode 4: Dream out of the box
Two secondary school teachers, Jacky Lee and Gabriel Wong, have acquired new knowledge through the JC School Football Development Scheme. They were inspired to redefine goals and experience life differently. As two of the eight accredited Hong Kong coaches of Manchester United Soccer Schools, both of them coached overseas; Jacky even resigned from his teaching job to pursue his dream career and enrich his life story.
Episode 5: Dreams of Women’s Football
Football is not for boys only. Local women footballers have their dreams too. Wai Yuen-Ting and Lee Wing-Yan have played in the HKJC N-League, and are now working as amateur coach and football freestyler while continuing playing with passion. They are committed to the local women’s football development by serving the community through football in various aspects.
