Crossborderpegasus and Sky Jewellery elected as nominees for Champion Griffin

The Hong Kong Jockey Club Champion Awards 2024/25

The Champion Awards Judging Panel confirmed today that the John Size-trained Crossborderpegasus and Sky Jewellery have been elected as the nominees for this season’s Champion Griffin award. The updated list of the nominees for The Hong Kong Jockey Club Champion Awards 2024/25 is shown as follows:

Champion Griffin (For new imports carrying the ‘K’ brand, which arrived in Hong Kong unraced, and which were aged either 2 or 3 on the date of the first Hong Kong race meeting of 2024/25 season)	CROSSBORDERPEGASUS SKY JEWELLERY (Additional nominees may be added if eligible horses win in upcoming meetings)

The Judging Panel comprises three members, each from The Hong Kong Jockey Club (HKJC) and the Association of Hong Kong Racing Journalists (AHKRJ).

The HKJC votes are made by the Chief Executive Officer, Mr Winfried Engelbrecht-Bresges; Executive Director, Racing, Mr Andrew Harding and Head of Racing Product, Mr Greg Carpenter.

The three members from the Association of Hong Kong Racing Journalists are Chairman Mr Carlos Wu, Vice Chairman Mr Ho Wing Keung and Committee Member Mr Simon Leung, with Ho replacing Ian Sham, who has resigned as an AHKRJ Committee Member.

Winners of the Champion Awards will be announced at The Hong Kong Jockey Club Champion Awards 2024/25 presentation ceremony, held on Friday, 11 July 2025, while the winner for the Champion Griffin will be announced at the Happy Valley’s Season Finale meeting on Wednesday, 16 July 2025.
