Farewell to Golden Sixty
The Hong Kong Jockey Club hosted a farewell ceremony at Sha Tin race meeting today (Sunday, 22 September) for champion galloper Golden Sixty. The three-time Hong Kong Horse of the Year recently retired from racing, and made his final public appearance in Hong Kong.
Scores of racegoers converged at the Parade Ring for a parting shot (Photo 1) after Race 5 – the Class 4 Golden Sixty Handicap (1000m) which was won by apprentice Britney Wong aboard Cheval Valiant, before the champion galloper heads to Japan for retirement.
At the farewell ceremony, jockey Vincent Ho and Golden Sixty alongside trainer Francis Lui, engaged with fans and expressed gratitude for their support at the Parade Ring (Photo 2).
The Hong Kong Jockey Club Chairman Michael Lee presents a Lifetime Achievement Award to Owner Stanley Chan in recognition of Golden Sixty’s accomplishments (Photo 3). Club CEO Winfried Engelbrecht-Bresges also presents a commemorative saddle cloth to Owner Stanley Chan, trainer Francis Lui, and jockey Vincent Ho (Photo 4), while Owner Stanley Chan presents a framed Golden Sixty horseshoe to Club Chairman Michael Lee as a special gift (Photo 5).
