The Hong Kong International Sale (HKIS) is a thoroughbred auction organized by The Hong Kong Jockey Club. The Sale provides our Permit Holders with the opportunity to purchase an International Sales Griffin (ISG) sourced from many of the world's premier yearling sales and pre-trained in Australia and Great Britain before coming to Hong Kong. HKIS graduates include major winners Good Ba Ba, Pakistan Star, The Duke and most recently, 2022 BMW Hong Kong Derby winner Romantic Warrior, who was purchased at the 2021 HKIS.
Bought for HK$4.8 million out of the 2021 Hong Kong International Sale, Romantic Warrior - by Acclamation - enhanced his brilliant record so far in Hong Kong to seven wins from eight starts, including the FWD QEII Cup, BMW Hong Kong Derby and Hong Kong Classic Mile, becoming the first International Sale graduate to win the BMW Hong Kong Derby - FWD QEII Cup in the same season.
