About HKIS
The Hong Kong International Sale (HKIS) is a thoroughbred auction organized by The Hong Kong Jockey Club since 1995. The Sale provides our Permit Holders with the opportunity to purchase an International Sales Griffin (ISG) sourced from many of the world's premier yearling sales and pre-trained in Australia and Great Britain before coming to Hong Kong. HKIS graduates include major winners Good Ba Ba, Pakistan Star, The Duke and most recently, 2022 BMW Hong Kong Derby winner Romantic Warrior, who was purchased at the 2021 HKIS.

Full Members, Racing Members and Racing Club Members are eligible to join the annual Horse Ballot

Horse Ballot
Horse Ballot Application usually opens in March or April each year and the result releases in early June

Permit Holder
The success in the annual Horse Ballot will obtain the permit

The registration of Sale usually opens to Permit Holders in late May and the Sale holds in June/July

Horse Owners
The successful bidder in HKIS becomes the horse owner
