Chinese New Year Raceday at Sha Tin to celebrate Year of the Rabbit

The Chinese New Year Raceday will be held at Sha Tin Racecourse on Tuesday, 24 January, the third day of the Chinese New Year, and will mark the Year of the Rabbit with spectacular on-course activities.

HK$100 million mega prize to celebrate Chinese New Year

A total of HK$100 million will be on offer to celebrate the Chinese New Year. An estimated dividend of HK$18 million awaits the holder of a single HK$10 winning unit for the Triple Trio at the race meeting on Tuesday, 24 January. The Quartet & First 4 Merged Pool will also be topped up for Race 7 and Race 11, with a HK$1 million jackpot allocated to each race.

Meanwhile, the estimated First Division Prize Fund for the Mark Six Chinese New Year Snowball Draw, to be held on the fifth day of Chinese New Year, 26 January, could reach HK$80 million for a single HK$10 winning unit.

Opening Variety Show and Ceremony

Tuesday’s (24 January) fixture will start with the Opening Variety Show and Ceremony at 11:15am in the Parade Ring, Sha Tin Racecourse. Financial Secretary of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, The Honourable Paul CHAN Mo-po, will officiate at the Opening Ceremony joined by the Club’s senior officials and will later present the Chinese New Year Cup trophies to the winning connections.

Spectacular on-course activities featuring celebrity singer Joey Yung

  • The Opening Variety Show will kick start the Chinese New Year Raceday in style, featuring a fabulous live singing performance by Joey Yung. Jockeys will greet fans with lucky messages, while a glorious and festive lion dance will bring good fortune to all.
  • All racegoers will receive a fortune pen and an instant win card# upon admission to Sha Tin Racecourse (until 3:30pm, while stocks last), offering a chance to win a 24k gold foil ornament. There are 800 prizes to be won on the day, with a total value of over HK$290,000.
  • Visit the lucky windmills and blossom display at the racecourse Public Forecourt. Nestled within the gorgeous, Instagrammable Peach Blossom Forest is a money tree that brings wealth and good luck to all racegoers.
  • A variety of festive dishes will be available at Mezza One for racegoers.

There will be 11 races on the day, with the first starting at 12:30pm. Gates at Sha Tin Racecourse will open at 10:30am. A free shuttle bus service from Ching Tak Street, Wong Tai Sin (MTR Station Exit D2) to Sha Tin Racecourse, will be provided on 24 January from 10:15am to 2:45pm.
