FWD QEII Cup
DANON THE KID - JPN
Jockey Vincent Ho paired the five-year-old horse for a light canter on the main all-weather track.
Ho said: “The horse was very good. He was very relaxed and ran with a good tempo. He moved nicely and smoothly.”
DUBAI HONOUR - GB - At paddock schooling
The William Haggas trained recent dual Group 1 winner in Australia, worked on the turf course this morning, galloped over 800m and clocked 1m 06.8s (34.7, 32.1) before familiarising himself with the parade ring under regular rider Issy Paul.
“He’s travelled well and he’s settled in very well and he looks in great form so we’re looking forward to Sunday. He’s pretty laid back and takes most things very much in his stride and he’s thriving here. He galloped strongly the other day and he’ll just be ticking over until race day. We didn’t ask too much of him this morning,” said James Hobbs, assistant to trainer Haggas.
GERALDINA - JPN
Warmed up in the trotting ring before an easy piece of work for one lap on the main all-weather track under work rider Taisei Danno.
Danno said: “I felt she was in better condition than when I rode her in Japan. She had good flatworks-jogging and hacking- and then transferred to the canter very smoothly. I usually give her a final piece of gallop at home, so it was my first time to ride her for an easy work, but she was feeling really good and I confirm she is in good form.”
MONEY CATCHER - HK
Cantered a lap on the inner all-weather track.
Trainer Franke Lor said: “He galloped yesterday (Monday, 24 April) with De Sousa. He said the horse is in good form, I hope we can get a good result.”
Jockey Silvestre de Sousa said: “I galloped him, he feels good and he hasn’t changed much – he’s a bit of a pro.”
PROGNOSIS - JPN
Had an easy canter on the main all-weather track under work rider Yasunari Kiyoyama.
Kiyoyama said: “He felt great this morning. He was not settled in for the first couple of days after he arrived in Hong Kong, but he is getting familiarized with the new surroundings and has been a good boy. Zac Purton will gallop him on turf tomorrow. He won’t do too much in the gallop, as he has done all he needs before we have brought him here, so I just tell Zac to get the feeling of him.”
Trackwork videos will be available by noon the day after (Videos of Apr 26 and 27 will be available on Apr 28).
