{"id":6841,"date":"2022-01-04T12:50:43","date_gmt":"2022-01-04T04:50:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ctr-campaigns.hkjc.com\/stewards-centenary-sprint-prelaunch\/?p=6841"},"modified":"2022-01-06T17:55:24","modified_gmt":"2022-01-06T09:55:24","slug":"golden-sixty-trials-g1-stewards-cup-is-next-on-the-agenda","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/campaigns.hkjc.com\/stewards-centenary-sprint\/en\/news\/golden-sixty-trials-g1-stewards-cup-is-next-on-the-agenda","title":{"rendered":"Golden Sixty trials, G1 Stewards\u2019 Cup is next on the agenda"},"content":{"rendered":"[vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=&#8221;6837&#8243; img_size=&#8221;full&#8221; add_caption=&#8221;yes&#8221; onclick=&#8221;link_image&#8221;][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]<p>Golden Sixty stepped out for a routine barrier trial at Sha Tin this morning (Tuesday, 4 January) as he builds towards the HK$12 million G1 Stewards\u2019 Cup (1600m) on Sunday, 23 January.<\/p><p>Stepping out under familiar ally Vincent Ho, Golden Sixty broke cleanly before extending to cross the line third in 59.41s behind Wellington and Jumbo Fortune over 1000m on the turf.<\/p><p>\u201cHe trialled very well, the main thing this morning was to just let him stretch out and have a nice little blow ahead of the race in a couple of weeks, so it\u2019s good to let him do some work,\u201d Ho said.<\/p><p>After soaring to new heights with victory in last month\u2019s G1 LONGINES Hong Kong Mile (1600m), Golden Sixty is looking to join the immortal Silent Witness by collecting his 17th successive win in 19 days\u2019 time \u2013 the current record in Hong Kong.<\/p><p>\u201cThe Stewards\u2019 Cup is the target and everything is still on track, he\u2019s getting ready again and he feels nice, fresh and happy,\u201d Ho said.<\/p><p>The six-year-old\u2019s last defeat came in July, 2019 \u2013 since then he has won 16 consecutive races, swept the Four-Year-Old Classic Series, claimed five G1s and enhanced his earnings to HK$95.45 million.<\/p>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column]<div class=\"videoBox\" data-poster=\"http:\/\/campaigns.hkjc.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/524\/news-220104b-v1.png\" data-link=\"brts\/2022\/20220104\/st01\/eng\/brts_20220104_st01_eng\"  data-wa=\"\" data-themecolor=\"\"><\/div><p class=\"caption\">Golden Sixty extends under Vincent Ho.<\/p>[\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]<p>\u201cVery likely (to be his only trial before the Stewards\u2019 Cup) \u2013 he is fit, we just have to maintain it,\u201d Ho said.<\/p><p>Hong Kong\u2019s champion enhanced his overall record to 19 wins with victory at the 2021 LONGINES Hong Kong International Races \u2013 setting a new record in town dating back to when the professional era of Hong Kong racing commenced in 1971 \u2013 surpassing the 18 that Super Win, Silent Witness and Beauty Generation collected.<\/p><p>The brilliant son of Medaglia d\u2019Oro smashed a fine field of 10 others from Japan, Ireland and Hong Kong in the Hong Kong Mile \u2013 including 2021\u2019s G1 Yasuda Kinen (1600m) hero \u2013 Danon Kingly.<\/p><p>\u201cIf we\u2019re going to travel overseas then the 1400 metre race (G1 Queen\u2019s Silver Jubilee Cup, 20 February) will be good for him, but we still haven\u2019t talked about it,\u201d Ho said.<\/p><p>Looking to Wednesday\u2019s (5 January) nine-race fixture at Happy Valley, Vincent Ho will partner Ka Ying Star in the HK$3.7 million G3 January Cup Handicap (1800m) \u2013 the city circuit\u2019s sole Group race.<\/p><p>Facing a weighty task, Ka Ying Star will shoulder 133lb against eight opponents with seven of those allotted 116lb or less.
