Renowned in Hong Kong racing for horses named with the prefix \u201cEn\u201d, Ada Wong, owner of Ensued, who runs in this year\u2019s G1 LONGINES Hong Kong Vase (2400m), says her family are always keen on sourcing better quality horses, and that Ensued is one of their success stories.<\/p>
A five-year-old import, Ensued will make his second appearance in the LONGINES Hong Kong Vase. Last year, the horse finished fourth behind Giavellotto from gate eight, while this year he will step away from draw seven.<\/p>
Wong said: \u201cI always keep the faith in my horses and hopefully he will run a better race this year. Having said that, it\u2019s always my great honour to participate in the Hong Kong International Races as it is such a prestigious event. Pre-import, Ensued raced three times overseas, where he was raced by the Wong family, and despite not winning a race, they already had a reasonable opinion of the horse, believing that he could be something special.<\/p>
Wong said: \u201cIndeed, he ran well in his three starts, finishing close, and we had confidence he would further improve.\u201d<\/p>
By Lemon Drop Kid out of a Danehill Dancer mare, Ensued made a quick impact in Hong Kong, winning three races from his first four starts, all at Sha Tin. In that season, he also ran third in the Hong Kong Classic Cup (1800m) \u2013 the second leg of the three-race Four-Year-Old Classic Series \u2013 behind Helios Express and Chancheng Glory, who both also run at Sunday\u2019s LONGINES Hong Kong International Races.<\/p>
Ensued took another giant step forward in his second season, winning the G3 Sa Sa Ladies\u2019 Purse Handicap (1800m). Following that success, all of his subsequent 11 starts came in Group races, including a second to Voyage Bubble in the 2025 G1 Citi Hong Kong Gold Cup (2000m).<\/p>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column]

The Wong family\u2019s love of racing heritage dates back to Benedict Wong, father of Ada Wong, who has raced horses in Hong Kong since the early 1990s. Since then, the \u201cEn\u201d series has become a household name in Hong Kong racing. Many of the family\u2019s horses have excelled, including Enthusiasm, a six-time winner. Ada Wong also owned Endowing, a Group 2 winner in Hong Kong, and Encountered, owned by Wong\u2019s younger brother Vincent Wong, who won this season\u2019s Sa Sa Ladies\u2019 Purse.<\/p>
Wong described her father as the one who sowed the seeds for the family and their love for horse racing, including her own development in the sport.<\/p>
\u201cWe all love horse racing. When we were very young and all along, we were keen to support Hong Kong racing through constantly sourcing good quality horses to race here.
