His step up to the mile for the first time adds an element of intrigue to Sunday\u2019s race.<\/p>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=&#8221;13303&#8243; img_size=&#8221;full&#8221; add_caption=&#8221;yes&#8221; onclick=&#8221;link_image&#8221;][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]<p>John Size recently said Red Lion\u2019s third in December\u2019s G1 LONGINES Hong Kong Mile (1600m) \u201cwas near his best\u201d and that the seven-year-old was \u201cfit and well\u201d following a pair of impressive recent barrier trial efforts.<\/p><p>The son of Belardo is a Group 1-winner himself, having narrowly headed off Voyage Bubble in a pulsating finish to last season\u2019s G1 FWD Champions Mile (1600m).<\/p>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=&#8221;13305&#8243; img_size=&#8221;full&#8221; add_caption=&#8221;yes&#8221; onclick=&#8221;link_image&#8221;][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]<p>Drawn in barrier four, Galaxy Patch has already won a mile contest at Group 2 level this season, claiming the G2 BOCHK<span>\u00a0<\/span><em>Private Wealth<\/em><span>\u00a0<\/span>Jockey Club Mile (1600m) under James McDonald in November, and Maxime Guyon will ride Pierre Ng\u2019s mercurial six-year-old for the first time.<\/p><p>The pedigree of Mark Newnham\u2019s My Wish has never been in dispute, and only a sixth-place finish on his second run with Group 1 company in December\u2019s LONGINES Hong Kong Mile has checked what had appeared to be an inevitable march to the top of Hong Kong\u2019s elite miler ranks.<\/p><p>While his handler had excuses for that showing, My Wish\u2019s owners determined a change was needed and installed Alexis Badel as the five-year-old\u2019s new rider.<\/p><p>The Frenchman believes the Flying Artie gelding, drawn in gate two, has progressed since the last time he deputised \u2013 in October\u2019s G2 Sha Tin Trophy Handicap (1600m) \u2013 and that he could bounce back to form on Sunday.<\/p><p>\u201cIt\u2019s a horse that we know is very talented, and is certainly a better, bigger horse than it used to be,\u201d Badel said. \u201cI rode him one time, and it was a victory, so he left me with a very good feeling. I\u2019m excited to ride him again. His preparation seems good. He looks in very good shape. I would say he\u2019s got a pretty good gate on the day, and it\u2019s interesting to see how he\u2019s gonna go.\u201d<\/p>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=&#8221;13304&#8243; img_size=&#8221;full&#8221; add_caption=&#8221;yes&#8221; onclick=&#8221;link_image&#8221;][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]<p>There is little doubt My Wish belongs in such exalted company. Badel is confident his mount will have an opportunity to prove as much.<\/p><p>\u201cIt\u2019s the highest level of racing in Hong Kong.
