{"id":33513,"date":"2022-12-05T13:19:00","date_gmt":"2022-12-05T05:19:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ctr-campaigns.hkjc.com\/hkir\/?p=33513"},"modified":"2022-12-05T15:24:18","modified_gmt":"2022-12-05T07:24:18","slug":"sight-success-chases-limelight-in-longines-hong-kong-sprint","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/campaigns.hkjc.com\/hkir\/en\/news\/sight-success-chases-limelight-in-longines-hong-kong-sprint","title":{"rendered":"Sight Success chases limelight in LONGINES Hong Kong Sprint"},"content":{"rendered":"[vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=&#8221;33525&#8243; img_size=&#8221;full&#8221; add_caption=&#8221;yes&#8221; onclick=&#8221;link_image&#8221;][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]<p>Overshadowed by Hong Kong\u2019s glamour sprinters, Sight Success could emerge as the surprise packet in the HK$24 million G1 LONGINES Hong Kong Sprint (1200m) at Sha Tin on Sunday (11 December) after justifying his claims in key preliminary races through this season and last. \u00a0<\/p><p>Having finished runner-up in last term\u2019s G2 Sprint Cup (1200m) and G3 Bauhinia Sprint Trophy Handicap (1000m), Sight Success laid down markers to suggest he was capable of capturing a big scalp, especially after being sent around as second favourite following these efforts to win the 2022 G1 Chairman\u2019s Sprint Prize (1200m) behind Wellington.<\/p><p>Sight Success \u2013 a seven-time winner from 21 starts in Hong Kong \u2013 finished 12th first-up this term before grabbing fourth at odds of 80\/1 in last month\u2019s G2 BOCHK Private Banking Jockey Club Sprint (1200m), nearly two lengths away from the winning Lucky Sweynesse.<\/p><p>\u201cHe\u2019s run good races like that before (last start) \u2013 he raced well last season like that and it\u2019s good that he\u2019s come back to that form and based on how he\u2019s done since that race, I am hopeful that he can hold it,\u201d Size said.<\/p><p>Mickael Barzalona will take the mount on Sight Success after the six-year-old crossed the line second last Friday (2 December) in a barrier trial on the dirt over 1200m at Sha Tin.<\/p><p>\u201cHe seems ok, he seems happy to trial, he showed good speed and he looked like he wanted to be there, so I think he\u2019s pretty happy with himself,\u201d Size said.<\/p>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column]<div class=\"videoBox\" data-poster=\"http:\/\/campaigns.hkjc.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/609\/news-221205-sprint-v1.jpg\" data-link=\"replay-full\/2022\/20221120\/06\/eng\/replay-full_20221120_06_eng\"  data-wa=\"\" data-themecolor=\"\"><\/div><p class=\"caption\">Sight Success finishes fourth behind Lucky Sweynesse.<\/p>[\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]<p>The Australian-bred son of Magnus made his Hong Kong debut in December, 2020 on a rating of 52 and currently sits on a mark of 112 \u2013 firmly entrenched within the upper echelon of the city\u2019s invariably strong sprinting ranks. \u00a0<\/p><p>Size also trains Courier Wonder who is first reserve to join the LONGINES Hong Kong Sprint field this Sunday. A five-time winner from 11 starts, Courier Wonder has had two runs this season after he was found with substantial blood in his trachea last January.<\/p><p>A one-time boom sprinter, Courier Wonder\u2019s two runs back this term have both proven inconclusive with the horse finding trouble in each outing at crucial stages of the race.<\/p><p>\u201cHe got a little bit of interference, last start even, and even though he was back in the field, we probably didn\u2019t get a good look at him. He\u2019s had excuses a couple of times and I\u2019m hopeful that he might do his best across the next couple of runs,\u201d Size said.<\/p><p>Size will point the five-year-old towards races such as the HK$12 million G1 Centenary Sprint Cup (1200m) on 5 February, 2023 should he not make this weekend\u2019s field.<\/p><p>\u201cHe\u2019s on standby for this, he still might get in, there\u2019s a few visitors in the race and something might happen \u2013 we\u2019ll wait. If not, there wouldn\u2019t be a race for him until January \u2013 there\u2019s a race every month for them after that,\u201d Size said.<\/p><p>Size has won four out of the last five Centenary Sprint Cup renewals with D B Pin (2018), Beat The Clock (2019 &amp; 2020) and Hot King Prawn (2021).<\/p><p>Courier Wonder finished a fast-closing third in the same trial as Sight Success last Friday, while Waikuku \u2013 entered for the HK$30 million G1 LONGINES Hong Kong Mile (1600m) \u2013 did his thing at the rear of the group in that very same trial.<\/p><p>Waikuku finished third to Golden Sixty and California Spangle in the G2 BOCHK Private Wealth Jockey Club Mile (1600m) last start.<\/p><p>\u201cHe did run well, it was a slowly run race and he went around close to the rail which probably helped him a lot but that could happen again.
