Sha Tin Racecourse will host Hong Kong\u2019s internationally-acclaimed annual racing festival \u2013 the HK$110 million LONGINES Hong Kong International Races (Photo 1) \u2013 on Sunday, 11 December. Globally recognised as the \u201cTurf World Championships\u201d, the action on track will be complemented with an exceptional line-up of off-track entertainment befitting the day\u2019s \u201cCelebration of Champions\u201d motto. \u00a0\u00a0<\/p>
A Variety Show scheduled for 11.30am in the Parade Ring will feature spectacular performances, where popular singer Hacken Lee\u00a0(Photo 2) and a hypnotic drum performance from local troupe Gekko Taiko (Photo 3, 4) will provide a pulsating prelude to the afternoon\u2019s action.<\/p>
After Race 2, all jockeys participating in the four Group 1 races will greet racing fans in the Parade Ring at the Opening Ceremony to raise the curtain on this year’s LONGINES Hong Kong International Races with the Hong Kong Police Band performing the National Anthem.<\/p>
The four Group 1 races are worth a record-high HK$110 million in total and will be run on the turf track at Sha Tin Racecourse as follows:<\/p>
Race 4 (2.10pm) \u2013 HK$22 million G1 LONGINES Hong Kong Vase (2400m)<\/p>
Race 5 (2.50pm) \u2013 HK$24 million G1 LONGINES Hong Kong Sprint (1200m)<\/p>
Race 7 (4.00pm) \u2013 HK$30 million G1 LONGINES Hong Kong Mile (1600m)<\/p>
Race 8 (4.40pm) \u2013 HK$34 million G1 LONGINES Hong Kong Cup (2000m)<\/p>
Golden Sixty, Romantic Warrior, Wellington, Lucky Sweynesse and more of Hong Kong\u2019s best horses will lead the charge against an outstanding group of gallopers from Japan, France, Germany and Ireland \u2013 all chasing victory at Sha Tin.\u00a0<\/p>
Racegoers will receive a free HKIR Cap (Photo 5) upon admission to the racecourses on the day, available while stocks last.\u00a0<\/p>
After Race 10, the sky at Sha Tin will light up with a spectacular futuristic pyrotechnic display (Photo 6) in honour of this year\u2019s champions.<\/p>
\u201cCheering for Hong Kong\u201d meal sets \u2013 offered at promotional prices \u2013 will be available at selective trackside catering counters throughout the day.<\/p>
Gates at Sha Tin Racecourse will open at 10.25am. Race 1 is scheduled for 12.25pm.<\/p>
