Frankie Lor is looking to reprise memories of Furore\u2019s 2019 BMW Hong Kong Derby (2000m) success when Hugh Bowman gets the leg-up on Money Catcher in Sunday\u2019s (20 November) HK$5 million G2 BOCHK Jockey Club Cup (2000m) at Sha Tin.<\/p>

\u201cWe won the Derby together and I think he is a really good jockey. I will try to give him some rides \u2013 he\u2019s a heavy jockey,\u201d Lor said, referring to Bowman.<\/p>

Lor and Bowman won the 2019 BMW Hong Kong Derby in tandem with Furore, as well as the 2019 Hong Kong Classic Mile (1600m) with that same horse. Bowman has arrived in Hong Kong to kick off a short-term stint this Sunday after initially being ruled out of Wednesday\u2019s (16 November) fixture at Happy Valley.<\/p>

Money Catcher won his first race in Hong Kong in the G3 Sa Sa Ladies\u2019 Purse Handicap (1800m) at Sha Tin earlier this month for Lor after snapping an exasperating run of outs, leading from the get-go to win by half a length.<\/p>

\u201cFinally he won a race, we waited a long time. He\u2019s consistent but he couldn\u2019t win, now he\u2019s won, he should be better,\u201d Lor said.<\/p>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column]

Money Catcher leads throughout at Sha Tin.<\/p>[\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]

Money Catcher placed third in the 2022 Hong Kong Classic Cup (1800m) and 2022 BMW Hong Kong Derby (2000m) last season and boasts eight minor placings and one win from 13 starts in Hong Kong.<\/p>

\u201cStepping up in distance is no problem \u2013 2000 metres is the maximum. He\u2019s a little bit one-paced, so he needs to lead, sit second or third in the run,\u201d Lor said.<\/p>

Money Catcher placed second twice at Group 2 level in New Zealand prior to export over 1600m and 2100m. Lor expects his charge to feature in December\u2019s G1 LONGINES Hong Kong Cup (2000m) after Sunday\u2019s contest \u2013 should he pass the test.<\/p>

\u201cIf Money Catcher runs well he will go to the Hong Kong Cup, even if he finishes close,\u201d Lor said. \u00a0<\/p>

Beauty Joy, Ka Ying Star, Panfield, Senor Toba, Romantic Warrior, Tourbillon Diamond, Russian Emperor and Savvy Nine are also entered for the BOCHK Jockey Club Cup.<\/p>

Lor also has Master Eight engaged in the HK$5 million G2 BOCHK Private Banking Jockey Club Sprint (1200m) on Sunday\u2019s Group 2 triple-header after his solid fourth in last month\u2019s G2 Premier Bowl Handicap (1200m) behind Wellington.<\/p>

\u201cHe always improves just a little bit, always a little \u2013 never a lot. He looks better than last start and with a good draw we can sit a bit closer. I hope he can continue to improve this season,\u201d Lor said.<\/p>

Master Eight is a five-time winner from 11 starts with his biggest scalp coming in the 2021 G3 Bauhinia Sprint Trophy Handicap (1000m) at Sha Tin.<\/p>

\u201cHe\u2019s rated 110, so he has no choice (to run elsewhere). Derek (Leung) is aboard him this weekend,\u201d Lor said.<\/p>
